Sending messages
Currently, four messaging methods are being used in our two towns.
- Front Porch Forum. This email service is the most used; 70% of households subscribe to it.
- TTO message boards. Everyone can read the boards online.
- TTO list-serve. This email service has been around since 2002, but participation is dwindling.
- Facebook. Some people are inclined to use FB for local communication.
To reach as many residents as possible, one has to use all options. Time will tell whether there is a place for each.
Front Porch Forum
- One list for Jericho residents, one for Underhill residents
- Subscribers receive messages once a day as email
- Subscribers can send messages
- FPF moderators screen all messages
How to post
- Log-in or open an account .
- Type your message and send.

TTO message boards
- Everyone can read and send messages (unlike FPF and FB)
- Subscribers can select the boards and/or topics for which they want to receive new messages as email.
- Messages are currently not moderated and are posted immediately.
- The three most recent messages are announced on the frontpage of this website
- Well suited for discussion because messages are grouped per topic
- Option to create a personal profile with portrait
- Option to add photos and attachments (lost dog, furniture for sale, ...)
- Some boards offer the option to launch a poll
- Groups can have their own public or closed message board (Gardening, ...)
How to post
- Go to the Top menu bar/Messages/TTO Message Boards
- Choose the appropriate board and click “New Topic”
- Write your message and click “Submit”
TTO list serve
- Everyone can read all messages online on the Yahoo website (unlike FPF and FB).
- Subscribers can receive messages as email or get daily a list of message headings.
- Subscribers can send messages
- Messages are not moderated and are posted immediately.
How to post

- Type your message in your email program

- For Jericho residents (42)
- For Underhill residents (249)

How to post
- Go to your Facebook account or open a FB account
- Choose one, two or all three groups for our area; J&U residents and/or Jericho residents and/or Underhill residents
- Add yourself as member and wait till you are approved or ask a group member to add you as member.
- Write your message in the box "Write something" and send.
Beware, FB sells your profile to advertisers; your profile is their product.
